Chatango (http://chatango.com/) offers free life chats that can simply be added to any web page.
What you add to your site is a script (for the browser) that will run a kind of flash application.
I'm convinced that it basically works, even if some problems have been reported at
http://www.ascensionwithearth.com/, where I first encountered it.
I like the fact, that it is easy to add and is ready to run. :-)
